How to use, grading standards and FAQ

How to use

  1. Put the card on a plain background (a dark desk or white paper) and shoot from straight above. Take it out of its sleeve or toploader for an accurate result.
  2. Add the front photo, and the back too if you have it. The card outline, inner border and any whitening are found automatically.
  3. Drag any dot or line that's off, choose the condition of the corners, edges and surface, and the estimated PSA, CGC, BGS and TAG grades appear. You can save the result as an image.

Centering standards by grading company

A ratio is the share of the wider border in the total of both borders. For example, 55/45 means one border is slightly wider than the other. The table summarizes the standards each company publishes (checked October 2026).

How the estimated grades are worked out

  • PSA: the grade is the lower of the cap set by centering and the weakest of corners, edges and surface.
  • CGC: a flawless card centered close to 50/50 front and back is a Pristine 10, and a flawless card within 55/45 is a Gem Mint 10.
  • BGS: four 10 subgrades (centering, corners, edges, surface) make a Black Label, and three 10s with a 9.5 make a Pristine 10. Otherwise the average is rounded down to the half grade, and the result can't be more than one grade above the lowest subgrade.
  • TAG: a flawless card within 51/49 front and 52/48 back is a Pristine 10, and within 55/45 front and 65/35 back a Gem Mint 10 (TCG standards, such as Pokémon). Otherwise the grade is the lower of the centering cap and the condition.

Tips for an accurate result

  • Use a plain background larger than the card, in a color different from the card's border, so the outline is easy to find.
  • Hold the phone parallel to the card and shoot from above. Tilted photos are straightened before measuring, but a straight shot is more accurate.
  • Avoid glare on the borders, which can look like whitening.
  • Borderless cards such as full arts are hard to detect automatically, so move the lines to the print frame yourself.

Frequently asked questions

Is my photo uploaded to a server?

No. The photo is analyzed inside your browser and never sent anywhere, which is also why there is no sign-up or daily limit.

Does it work for cards other than Pokémon?

Yes. Any card with a border works, including Yu-Gi-Oh!, One Piece, Magic: The Gathering and sports cards.

What centering do I need for a PSA 10?

PSA's published standard is 55/45 or better on the front and 75/25 or better on the back. Corners, edges and surface still decide the final grade.

What is a BGS Black Label?

Beckett (BGS) gives a black label only to cards with a 10 in all four subgrades: centering, corners, edges and surface. The front needs essentially 50/50 centering, so it is very rare.

What is TAG grading?

TAG is a grading company that photographs cards in high resolution and scores them with computer vision on a 1,000-point TAG Score. 990 or higher is a Pristine 10, and TCG cards such as Pokémon have a stricter back-centering standard (52/48) than sports cards.

Will the estimate match the real grade?

It is an estimate for reference. Centering can be measured precisely from a photo, but corner sharpness and fine surface flaws don't all show up in one. Check the card itself before you submit it.
